Collin Clowes is a Canadian Singer/Songwriter from Thunder Bay, ON. born in 1995. His music is simple and straight to the point, consisting on a haunting vibe & sound. He explains his genre as being a blend of Pop & Folk. Collin fell in love with writing as a kid, he would often write out poetry & lyrics. At the age of 12, he started teaching himself guitar. From that point on, he would constantly write original songs & study other songs.
At the age of 17 he had become extremely ill. While in emerge, he was told that his liver was failing but no one knew why. He was then rushed to Toronto undergoing many tests but no one could determine the cause of his illness. Collin went on for 4 more years living with this illness, which took a toll physically as well as mentally but he made the most out of it & started performing live around Thunder Bay. He then quickly made his mark on the music scene in his hometown but the sickness made it increasingly difficult for him to continue with performing. He mentions that he could feel each day getting progressively worse, until it eventually became too much to deal with.
The day came where he had to be rushed to the hospital in Thunder Bay to be sent off to Toronto due to his liver beginning to fail. He was lucky though because his sister was a match & was willing to donate part of her liver. This saved Collin as the illness was beginning to shut down his body. Collin says that this was an extremely difficult time & he can never find the right way to describe it.
Shortly after returning home, he chose to move away to study songwriting & performance in Toronto. This was also a difficult journey as he was still in recovery & he had not fully processed his experience with the liver transplant. With that said, Collin did his best & he graduated in 2017 from Seneca College.
During his time living in Toronto, he recorded a handful of his songs with a local producer named Christian Bonner. Collin gives a lot of credit to Christian as he taught him a lot about the professional recording process. He released those songs on a 7 track album called "Blackbird;" on his 23rd birthday. The songs are about lost love, growing up & his experience with the liver transplant. It was mostly acoustically driven but Collin is now more interested in expanding his sound by experimentation. On his 23rd birthday, he invested in recording gear & then built up his own private studio in his bedroom, taking a break from the outside world.
It is now one year later & after countless hours in the studio, Collin is ready to start sharing what he has been working on, starting with a new single "Oh Mother". The song will release on new years day 2020 followed by many more throughout the months which will then lead into another album.
